Northrop Grumman is seeking a Technical Systems Editor & Writer Level 4 to join our team based out of Bangor, WA. The Marine Systems organization, part of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, is searching for Systems Engineers in support of rapid growth in the Power Propulsion and Launcher documentation organization. You will have the opportunity to be part of an expanding team directly supporting engineering and technical documentation development for power propulsion generation and launcher hardware weapons systems on a variety of Navy platforms.
What you'll get to do:
  • Assist with writing and supplying inputs to engineering and technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications supporting launcher and propulsion programs
  • Participate/Lead and coordinate preparation, conduct and closeout for internal and external customer reviews and meetings
  • Develop subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, wiring charts, schematics and trade journals.
  • Lead preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.
  • Conduct quality review of materials.
  • Develop new concepts, techniques, and standards.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences as well as present technical approaches and findings.
  • Support documentation input implementation to a team of technical writers and text processors.
  • Support verification and proofing events to produce quality documentation.

The qualified candidate will possess the following skills:
  • The ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking along with sound decision making and good judgments
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment

This requisition may be filled at a Level 4 based on qualifications listed below:
Basic Qualifications for Level 4:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 8 years relevant work experience; or Master's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 6 years relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with system drawings and engineering/technical products such as technical procedure manuals, operational specifications, user manuals, program manuals, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings in the development of documentation
  • Ability to meet deadlines and quality standards
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Systems Engineering
  • Design and operational knowledge of navy programs
  • Experience with military documentation, standards, and specifications
  • Active Secret Security Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
