We Are Seeking a Lead Mandarin Chinese-Immersion Preschool Teacher


The New Century School, an innovative independent school in Baltimore, is seeking a passionate Lead Mandarin Chinese-Immersion Preschool Teacher to lead our classroom for children ages 2-3.


This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, energetic educator who is committed to helping young children acquire Mandarin Chinese naturally through meaningful interactions, play, music, stories, movement, and exploration. The successful candidate will speak Mandarin Chinese exclusively with students throughout the school day, creating an authentic language-immersion environment where children develop confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.


The position begins on August 24, 2026, and continues throughout the 2026-2027 school year.


What will you do in this role?

  • Lead a classroom of two-year-old children, creating a warm, safe, joyful, and engaging learning environment.
  • Speak Mandarin Chinese with students throughout the school day, fostering natural language acquisition through daily routines, conversations, songs, stories, games, and creative activities.
  • Inspire young learners to develop a love for the Mandarin Chinese language and Chinese culture.
  • Guide classroom assistants to ensure a consistent and authentic Mandarin Chinese-immersion experience.
  • Support each child's cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development.
  • Maintain a safe, well-organized classroom and ensure the health and well-being of every child.
  • Observe children's progress and communicate regularly with families.
  • Participate in school events, cultural celebrations, and ongoing professional development.

  • Is a native or near-native Mandarin Chinese speaker and is committed to speaking Mandarin Chinese with students throughout the school day.
  • Has experience working with toddlers or preschool-aged children.
  • Creates engaging, hands-on learning experiences that spark children's curiosity and enthusiasm.
  • Understands child development and provides a nurturing, developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Is warm, patient, energetic, and playful.
  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues and families.
  • Embraces a culturally responsive approach to teaching and values diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Meets Maryland requirements for early childhood instructional staff.
