INFORMATION ON SCHOOL SITE(S):

RANCHO DOMINGUEZ

PREPARATORY SCHOOL

The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Principal, Secondary to collaborate with, support and lead the students, staff, and community at Rancho Dominguez Preparatory School which includes the Law, Government and Public Service Magnet, Middle School Global Studies Academy, and High School STEAM Academy towards academic excellence.

Rancho Dominguez Preparatory School, opened in 2011, and is part of the Carson Network of Schools, proudly serving students from Grades 6-12. The school continues to build on meaningful progress while positioning itself on the work ahead with a commitment to ensuring every student graduates Ready for the World and prepared to thrive in college, career, and life. The school’s measures of success are aligned with the 2026-2030 LAUSD Strategic Plan and Region South Blueprint for Success and instructional commitments. The school has a comprehensive athletic program including cheer and fall and spring sports and a variety of school activities for students. Rancho Dominguez Preparatory School is a 100% free and reduced meal; Title I School. Student enrollment is approximately 550 students, Grades 6-12, with 21% African American, 67% Hispanic, 4% Filipino, 2% Pacific Islander, 3% White 1% Asian, 2% Two or More Races. The school has approximately 7% English Learners and 20% Students with Disabilities. The school is located at 4110 Santa Fe Ave., Long Beach, CA 90810 .

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

will be a servant leader who will contribute to the culture of equity, collaboration, and excellence; will have knowledge and experience in overserving diverse student populations (English Learners, Students with Disabilities, Gifted and Talented); will have a commitment to collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure academic excellence and joy and wellness; will have knowledge and experience of federal, state, and district policies and procedures, 2026-2030 LAUSD Strategic Plan, LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework including collecting and analyzing evidence from classroom observation, artifacts, and professional conversation; will have experience in designing and delivering professional development that leads to implementation; will have experience in school operations and school budget; and will have executive presence.

SALARY:

45G - E Basis ($141,159- $176,037) - 234 paid days

  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
  • For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized "settlement" (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):
  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
  • A minimum of threeyears of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program.
  • A minimum of two years of experience at a middle school, and/or high school
  • Two years of service in an administrative or supervisory position utilizing an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position

Employees who have been issued a below-standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension, shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a bachelor’s degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university District Master Plan requirements*

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program. Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
