ABOUT THRASHER
The Thrasher Group has been improving the communities where we live and work since 1983 - not as outside consultants, but as residents and neighbors. Thrasher is the largest privately owned architecture, engineering, and surveying firm in West Virginia, and maintains a growing presence in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. Our roots throughout central Appalachia and the Mid-Atlantic region have allowed us to build a reputation for doing meaningful work for communities of all sizes.

In short, we're not a steppingstone. Thrasher is a firm where people build better careers and better communities, all in the places they call home.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Thrasher is seeking a Landscape Architect to join our Planning & Landscape Architecture team. This position will work closely with architects, civil engineers, and surveyors on a diverse range of projects, including parks and recreation facilities, trails, streetscapes, tourism infrastructure related site development, master plans, and community revitalization efforts. The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented designer who enjoys collaborating across disciplines and seeing projects through from early concepts to construction. Our team is currently engaged in a multitude of community improvement projects across our footprint that are transforming public and private spaces in Appalachia. We are passionate about improving the places around us and are looking for a team member that wants to be involved in transformative projects for our region.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop site plans, landscape plans, planting designs, grading concepts, and hardscape details for public and private projects.
  • Prepare conceptual designs, renderings, and graphics for master plans, community engagement, and funding applications.
  • Produce construction documents, details, and specifications in coordination with multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Participate in client meetings, public presentations, and community input sessions.
  • Conduct site visits and assist with construction administration to ensure design intent is achieved.
  • Support project pursuits and proposals with design concepts and graphic content.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.
Licensure: Licensed Landscape Architect (PLA) preferred, or actively pursuing licensure.
Experience: 3-7 years of professional landscape architecture or site design experience preferred; strong entry-level candidates will be considered.
Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D required; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Lumion, or similar visualization tools a plus.
Skills: Strong graphic, design, and communication skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively across disciplines.
BENEFITS

We also offer supplemental life, dental, and vision insurance, along with accident, hospital indemnity, and critical illness coverage for added peace of mind.
We invest in our employees' futures through a traditional and Roth 401(k) with up to a 4% company match, profit sharing, and discretionary bonuses. Employees enjoy paid time off, paid parental leave, and support for continuing education and professional registrations, plus assistance with warehouse club memberships, gym, and race entry fees.
We recognize the importance of work-life balance and offer schedule flexibility within a family-oriented culture that's been building communities across the Mid-Atlantic for over 40 years.
The Thrasher Group conducts pre-employment drug screens and background checks on all applicants who accept offers of employment. Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition of employment. EEO / AA / E-Verify employer.
