Job description

We are helping a locally rooted Rhode Island non-profit find their next Grant Development Assistant to support fundraising and outreach activities. Managing a base of 500+ donors and 40+ grants, this role is a perfect fit for a collaborative team player who excels at grant writing, detailed scheduling, and building authentic community relationships.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Salary: $54,000 – $58,000 per year (depending on experience).
  • Benefits include health coverage, 3+ weeks of vacation, 11 paid holidays, and a Simple IRA with employer match.
Key Responsibilities of the Grant Development Assistant:
  • Assist the Associate Director in researching new funding opportunities and writing grant proposals and budgets.
  • Manage existing grants, including progress reports, donor communications, and deadline calendars.
  • Help maintain donor and partner relationships through fundraising campaigns, special events, thank-you notes, and year-end receipts.
  • Write the newsletter and manage donor tracking, data entry, and reporting using Salesforce (training provided).
  • Deliver presentations to civic, school, and faith-based groups to educate the public about the organization's work with refugees.

Qualifications of the Grant Development Assistant:
  • Proven background writing successful grants and navigating grant-search databases.
  • Strong writing, editing, and calendar-management skills; familiarity with Salesforce is a major plus.
  • Comfortable with public speaking, phone/Zoom outreach, and building authentic, cross-cultural relationships.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, highly collaborative, and able to manage projects independently from start to finish.
