Position Overview:

As a Clinical Learning Lab Manager at Galen College of Nursing, you will coordinate and support clinical learning laboratory experiences for all learners in collaboration with faculty, campus and college leaders to ensure quality and continuity in the achievement of course student learning outcomes (CSLOs) for all programs. Provides oversight of Clinical Learning Laboratory (CLL) application of the applicable Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSOBP) to effectively integrate standardized CLL lesson plans and CPE procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate and supervise the operation of the clinical learning laboratory to provide standardized learning experiences. 

2. Assists faculty and students with the use and operation of laboratory equipment, supplies, and standardized lesson plans. 

3. Assists faculty and staff with lab preparation based on course requirements for the clinical learning labs. 

4. May serve as faculty substitute in the facilitation of laboratory sessions as needed.

5. Collaborates with campus leadership and college clinical leaders to obtain and provide training on equipment and supplies to be utilized in the clinical learning laboratory. 

6. Coordinates the maintenance of equipment and supplies necessary for the effective use of all learning labs, including communication with third parties in collaboration with college clinical leaders. 

7. Coordinates the use of labs for all functions, including regular classes, special class sections, open lab, advanced clinical skills, replacement clinical experiences, Competency Performance Examinations (CPEs), and special events. 

8. Assists with standardized orientation and training for clinical learning lab faculty and technicians in accordance with the HSSOBP. 

9. Oversee and assist with the hiring, training, performance appraisal, and mentoring of dedicated CLL faculty and technicians under the direction of the campus leadership. 

10. Maintains campus CLL inventory and inventory systems in collaboration with campus and college clinical leaders and CLL technicians. 

11. Performs walk-through evaluations on faculty teaching in clinical learning labs for all programs and reports findings to campus leadership. 

12. Makes recommendations for curriculum changes for all programs to the curriculum council and Director of Clinical Learning โ€“ CLL based on research and needs identified when performing oversight in both the clinical learning labs and CPE administration. 

13. Communicates and integrates college-wide policy and process changes regarding CLL standardization and operation. 

14. Attend campus level course committee meetings. 

15. Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Unencumbered Licensure: Applicable state as a Registered Nurse. 

Education: Minimum of a Master of Science Degree with a major in nursing from an accredited institution is required. Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) credential is preferred when eligible. 

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse. A minimum of two (2) years of teaching in the clinical lab or simulation setting is preferred. 

Special Qualifications: Organizational and planning skills; knowledge of the function and operation of the various simulation models available in the clinical learning laboratory. Effective written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to use personal computers, word processing, spreadsheet and/or database. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people. 

Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: The position requires critical thinking, reading, planning, preparing, evaluating, and decision-making. Physical demands in classroom and office are minimal and considered sedentary work with occasional lifting and/or carrying such articles as supplies, files, and books (25 pounds minimum). Operation of standard office equipment such as phones, computers, classroom projectors, and printer/scanners, occurs on a frequent basis. 

Degree of Supervision: Minimal.
