Summary of Position
Job performance is an essential requirement to ensure the efficient operation, daily coordination, and functioning of the Simulation Center of the Department of Nursing.
Education and Experience
High School Graduate or GED (certificate required).Six months experience in a clerical or customer service field.
Prefer experience in the medical field.
Knowledge Skills and Ability
  • Ability to give clear instructions, just have professional oral communication skills, both in personal contacts, and on the telephone;
  • Professional appearance and manner in greeting the public, staff, faculty and students;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with nursing faculty, staff, and students
  • Time management and organizational skills for efficient operation of labs, static Room, and Debriefing Rooms in a fast-paced academic environment
  • Proficient with use of office machines and copiers, good computer skills: Microsoft XP, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic audiovisual system operation (cameras, microphones, recording systems) and computer problems
  • Establish and maintain a high level of trust and confidence;
  • Learns quickly when faced with new problems;
  • Uses time effectively and efficiently; •
  • Ability to work in a high stress environment.

Essential Functions
  • Take direction from Simulation/Lab Manager answering the telephone providing information and assistance to callers and assist students in computer lab as needed; •
  • Assist instructors and students with information, supplies, equipment, videos, CD's, DVD's, computers as needed;
  • Monitor and restock lab and simulation supplies and assist with inventory tracking and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain materials and forms for a variety of Simulation Center scenarios provided from faculty and staff;
  • Assist faculty and staff with locating material, equipment, and supplies;
  • Assists faculty and staff with turning on simulation computers and equipment;
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment; • Washes, dries, folds, all linen used in simulation hospital.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards and enforce proper handling and care of simulation equipment.
  • Ensure proper storage and organization of equipment and materials in Simulation/Lab and ensure equipment sign-out book is maintained.
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and determine corrective actions; forward work orders for facility management as needed
  • Monitor security of Simulation Center, equipment, and supplies.
  • Support special events, open labs, accreditation visits and conducts tours as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
