Der Dutchman Walnut Creek is looking for a dependable and motivated Assistant Kitchen Manager to join our team! This is a great opportunity for an experienced kitchen professional who enjoys working with people, leading a team, and helping create a positive, efficient kitchen environment.


The Assistant Kitchen Manager works alongside the Kitchen Manager to oversee daily kitchen operations, support and train team members, maintain food quality and safety standards, and ensure guests receive excellent food and service. We’re looking for someone who leads by example, communicates well, stays organized, and is ready to step in and help wherever needed.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assists the Kitchen Manager with daily kitchen operations to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Assists with receiving, organizing, and ordering food and supplies as needed.
  • Helps maintain appropriate inventory levels and minimize food waste.
  • Supports the Kitchen Manager in maintaining appropriate food and labor costs.
  • Helps create a friendly and enjoyable work atmosphere while holding staff accountable to established standards and policies.
  • Helps ensure the high-volume kitchen operates efficiently while following food safety and workplace safety standards.
  • Ensures timely and accurate preparation of food and helps maintain consistent quality.
  • Assists with training, coaching, and directing kitchen staff as needed.
  • Builds positive and professional relationships with staff, vendors, and other departments.
  • Steps in to lead kitchen operations in the Kitchen Manager’s absence.
  • Provides assistance to fellow staff in other areas as needed or requested.
  • Performs additional duties as directed by the Kitchen Manager or management.
