Job description

Role: Interior Design Project Coordinator

Location: Parsippany, NJ (Hybrid)
Duration: 5+ Months Contract to Start


Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Interior Design professional to support hospitality renovation and conversion projects in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This role will work closely with Interior Design Leads and Renovation Teams to support project coordination, design documentation, presentations, and property improvement initiatives across multiple hotel brands and market segments.

The ideal candidate will have foundational hospitality design experience, strong technical design software skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining excellent communication and responsiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to inquiries in the Interior Design mailbox with an expected 24-hour turnaround time.
  • Review design submittals for hotel renovation and conversion projects to ensure compliance with brand standards and project requirements.
  • Assist the Renovation Team with development and preparation of Property Improvement Plans (PIPs).
  • Support SPEXX-related activities and documentation as needed.
  • Assist Interior Design Leads with paint flyers, finish boards, and manufacturer-direct layouts.
  • Prepare design presentations, mood boards, FF&E specifications, and supporting project documentation.
  • Review shop drawing submittals and coordinate updates with internal teams and vendors.
  • Support procurement coordination and maintain understanding of design products, finishes, and installation processes.
  • Participate in company initiatives, meetings, and events while contributing positively to team culture and collaboration.
  • Travel occasionally to hotel properties to conduct site visits, capture photos, and support project needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from a FIDER or CIDA accredited program or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of experience in hospitality interior design.
  • Experience working with hotel renovation, conversion, or branded hospitality projects.
  • Strong understanding of hotel brand standards across multiple market tiers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to interact with clients, ownership groups, and internal stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with strong collaboration and organizational skills.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in:
    • AutoCAD 2007 or higher
    • Revit
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • InDesign
    • Bluebeam
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • PowerPoint
    • Excel
  • SPEXX software knowledge is a plus.
  • PIP Writer experience is a plus.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience preparing FF&E specifications and design presentation materials.
  • Understanding of project management processes within hospitality design projects.
  • Familiarity with procurement coordination and vendor/manufacturer interactions.
  • Experience reviewing construction documents and shop drawings.

Additional Information

  • Hybrid work schedule based in Parsippany, NJ.
  • Domestic travel up to 10% may be required.
  • Candidates should be flexible to support short-notice travel for hotel site visits when needed.
