Job description

Position Description:

We are looking for a Hydrogeologist to join the Water Management Team in the Carlin District. The successful candidate will support the Sr. Hydrogeologist and Project Manager in delivering the project by overseeing well drilling and construction, performing hydrogeology testing, and communicating dewatering status to other departments. This is an excellent opportunity to assist in the development of a world class underground asset from pre-feasibility through to operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage planning, design, budget, and oversight of hydrogeology drilling & construction
  • Perform hydrogeologic testing on drill holes and completed wells - including pump, injection, slug, packer, and airlift testing
  • Assist with the interpretation of hydrogeologic testing
  • Communicate with Mine Planning Staff - short and long range - to accomplish drilling goals
  • Provide hydrogeological expertise and guidance to Mine Operations and Mine Planning Staff
  • Install, operate, and maintain hydrogeology monitoring equipment
  • Collect and analyze monitoring data
  • Drill core logging of select holes where necessary
  • Manage/supervise drillers and subcontractors including invoice review and approval
  • Unconventional hours may be necessary due to drilling activities
  • Update and maintain hydrogeologic database

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in hydrogeology, geology, civil engineering (or similar) is required
  • Two (2) years of experience in the mining industry is preferred
  • Advanced technical communications, personal interaction and presentations skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and in small multi-disciplinary teams required
  • Familiarity with drill rigs and installation of hydrogeology instrumentation preferred
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office, LeapFrog, Deswik, Vulcan, GIS preferred
  • Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
  • Project management skills are preferred
