    Job description

An exceptional Chief Financial Officer opportunity offers the chance to shape financial strategy, strengthen community healthcare, and lead sustainable growth at a mission-driven hospital.

The Hospital Chief Financial Officer will join an organization known for compassionate care, strong community partnerships, and a genuine commitment to work-life balance. This independent healthcare provider invests in modern clinical and financial technologies that improve reporting, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes. Recent achievements include expanding access through acute care, emergency, surgical, rehabilitation, behavioral health, and outpatient services. Employees also value the organizationโ€™s support for local agriculture, sustainability, and fresh food initiatives. The Hospital CFO will become part of a welcoming culture where innovation, service, and community impact are celebrated.

The Healthcare Finance Executive will serve a small community hospital providing personalized care in a close-knit setting. The facility supports acute care, emergency services, surgery, primary care, specialty clinics, home health, physical therapy, and additional outpatient programs. Its manageable size encourages collaboration, agile decisionโ€‘making, and direct visibility into hospital operations. The Chief Financial Officer will have a meaningful opportunity to influence the financial health and longโ€‘term success of an essential regional healthcare resource.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and partnering closely with the executive leadership team, the CFO will guide all hospital finance and accounting functions. Responsibilities include oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, budgeting, inventory, cash flow, financial statements, tax preparation, cost reporting, reimbursement analysis, and contractual reconciliations. The Vice President of Finance will provide accurate financial reporting for hospital, clinic, and home health operations while identifying financial strengths, risks, and corrective strategies. Support comes from experienced finance professionals, friendly nurses, collaborative department leaders, and a diverse team of healthcare professionals. Qualified candidates will bring a bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting or business, at least five years of directly related healthcare finance experience, demonstrated financial management leadership, and preferably CPA or CMA credentials.

The Hospital CFO will enjoy life along Northern Californiaโ€™s Redwood Coast, where towering forests, Pacific beaches, mountainโ€‘fed rivers, and welcoming university communities create an extraordinary setting. Outdoor recreation includes hiking, cycling, surfing, kayaking, rafting, fishing, camping, golfing, beachcombing, and exploring oldโ€‘growth redwood parks. The region also features concerts, theater, dance, art galleries, historic towns, farmers markets, and vibrant local festivals. A mild yearโ€‘round climate complements a relaxed lifestyle and a celebrated culinary scene filled with farmโ€‘toโ€‘table restaurants, awardโ€‘winning foods, regional wines, microbrews, and artisan products. The Healthcare CFO can build a rewarding career while enjoying natural beauty, cultural attractions, clean coastal air, and a strong sense of community.

The Chief Financial Officer will receive competitive compensation based on experience and a full suite of benefits.
