Primary Responsibilities
  • Verifies and enters details of transactions as they occur in a computerized accounting system
  • Reconciles and balances accounts, including cash, accounts payables, accounts receivables, and credit cards
  • Handles daily accounting mail, including notices and disbursements.
  • Prepares payroll and payroll tax returns on a timely basis
  • Completes records to or through financial statements using a computer software program accurately and timely
  • Prepares sales tax returns for various states, parishes, and counties
  • Prepares bank reconciliations monthly
  • Compiles reports to show statistics such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to operation of business
  • Researches accounts payables and accounts receivable issues as needed
  • Directs and monitors medical, dental, disability, and life insurance plans, 401(k) plans, and flex spending plans
  • May prepare or review monthly statements to clients
  • May run reports using the time and billing software program
  • Tracks overdue client accounts, and performs collection efforts as requested by partners and managers
  • Performs orientation of new employees
  • Ability to assist clients at client location as needed
  • Expanded knowledge of sales tax laws, payroll tax laws, and various income tax laws related to client work
Education, Experience & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from a four-year college or university
  • Two (2) to Four (4) years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active CPA License is a plus, candidates pursuing certification are encouraged to apply
