PALA Interstate, LLC
Summary
This position will be responsible for overall accounting oversight, including but not limited to, accurate and timely general ledger and technical accounting, month-end closing, variance analysis, cash flow analysis, fixed assets, work-in-progress analysis, job costing, sales tax, assist with budgeting and forecasting, financial statement preparation, and assist with implementation and development of scalable systems and internal controls. This position will serve as a trusted advisor to Pala's senior management team in extracting, analyzing, and managing data to provide insights into the trends, risks, and opportunities of the business. This role is a key role for the organization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting to internal management.
  • Research technical accounting matters and prepare recommendations with respect to implementation of new or newly applicable accounting guidance.
  • Have strong business acumen; understanding business costs and evaluate opportunities to leverage profitability.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis of business processes and workflows, identify trends and areas for improvement and clearly communicate too leadership.
  • Ensure filings for tax compliance matters are completed on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Collaborate with Controller/CFO/other business partners regarding business system implementation/upgrade, including visualization tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau and or other analytical software that will assist in delivering accurate and predictive data points.
  • Responsible for establishing, executing, monitoring, and enforcing appropriate internal controls and policies and procedures.
  • Assist Controller/CFO with the annual budget preparation and monthly forecasting.
  • Assist executive leadership with preparation of annual budgets, forecasting and regular review of performance to budget.
  • Analyze financial results to determine recommended cash flow to meet goals.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Actively seeks out professional development activities designed to improve performance in identified needed areas.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Familiar with Financial and Accounting Guides and GAAP
  • Knowledgeable in insurance programs
  • Knowledgeable in sales tax and payroll laws and reporting

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
  • CPA
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years relevant experience
  • Strong background in technical accounting, financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting, cost accounting, and financial management.
  • 3+ years of construction industry preferred.
  • Notary Commission a plus
  • ESOP experience a plus
