Job description

School of Music student workers support the administrative and production needs of the School of Music. Daily functions include supporting the practice rooms, classes, ensembles, concerts, and recitals throughout each semester.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all University and departmental branding and marketing standards are followed.
  • Uses knowledge of current graphic design software within Adobe Creative Suite to produce print and digital materials.
  • Assist with edits and updates to previously created designs.
  • Remain abreast of technological advances in the field, identify areas of use in the organization, and stay familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate basic understanding and usage of typography, color theory, and principles and elements of design in all created pieces.
  • Work on several projects at once, sometimes under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively through both written and spoken means with supervisor, professors, and students.
  • Represent and serve the School of Music in a professional, kind, and humble manner.
  • Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's Christian model and Mission - Training Champions for Christ.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma
  • 1-2 years work experience in any field preferred

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Liberty University student in good standing with the University.
  • Able to work between 15-20 hours a week (primarily between the hours of 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday)
  • Possess a creative mindset, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to learn
  • Able to give and receive creative feedback
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting
  • Experience in graphic design
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Eligible for Federal Work Study, Work Assistant, or International Work Supplement (depending on position)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graphic Design major or similar major/minor
  • Photography skills
  • Photoshop/Editing skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. For SOM productions and concerts, music levels may be above average, but will not exceed industry and OSHA safety standards. Working environment may include facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.

Driving Requirements

If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee's position.
