Job description

Position Description
Plan and develop daily business functions for various departments within the athletic organization. Ensure the athletic organization maintains a favorable public and stakeholder perception while fulfilling the organization's strategic mission.
Major/Essential Functions
Responsibilities Include
This role will manage a high volume of graphic design work with a primary focus on supporting the creative needs of several external and business-related areas, including development, promotions and fan engagement, ticketing, and sponsorships. This position will collaborate with external and business office staff to design creative assets for digital platforms, including social media, email, website, and mobile. It will also collaborate on design materials such as tickets, parking passes, enhancement of environmental mediums within our athletic facilities, posters, other special projects in support of revenue generation initiatives, and other duties as assigned.
  • Develop, direct, and implement the visual concepts for Texas Tech Athletics while constantly evaluating and enhancing our product. Lead the creation of engaging artwork for digital, print, in-venue, and facility use.
  • Design, construction, and delivery of creative elements to support the digital needs of the development, marketing, tickets, and communications teams through the design, construction, and delivery of creative elements.
  • Orchestrate traditional and digital ads, social media, website, broadcast, scoreboard graphics and elements, e-mail templates, social media templates, team posters, schedule cards, and brochures for the athletic department and its 17 programs. Organize and catalog graphic elements in storage locations for ease of distribution and usage department-wide.
  • Assist with the strategic visual branding and lead the development of creative concepts and deliverables that advance the athletic department's mission and programs. Create an array of deliverables across print and digital platforms that support the Department's overall communications strategy and visual identity. Coordinate the standardization of internal athletics branding between programs.
  • Source and/or design materials for internal and external needs. Ensure all designs reflect the unique elements of the department brand and are cohesive with all other collateral and marketing pieces. Develop unique ways to communicate ideas that fall within our Athletics brand guidelines.
  • Direct supervision of on-call employees and independent contractors that provide visual brand content for intercollegiate athletic programs in the areas of graphic design.
  • Assist with the direction of student graphic designers by providing feedback and managing workloads.
  • Interface with printers and other outside vendors throughout the design process.
  • Review both text and graphics with a detailed eye. Approve the use of the Texas Tech logos on assets developed by the department.
  • Comply with all NCAA, Big 12, and Texas Tech University rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Other duties assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a design-related field.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience in graphic design with a demonstrated understanding of design principles.
  • Must have strong design acumen and work samples to be considered for this position.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects)
  • Ability to produce a high volume of graphics on deadline while maintaining a high quality of work.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve department goals and within the defined constraints of our organizational brand standards.
  • Ability to manage time independently and juggle multiple tasks and projects for different clients simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships.
  • Motivated, flexible, detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field plus three years related experience; OR a combination of related education and/or experience to equal seven years.
