Job description

The Graphic Designer is a nonexempt position that collaborates with the Director of Brand Marketing and creative team members on all aspects of Haynes Boone's creative and design projects, from initial concept development through production. This position coordinates with departments and offices across the firm to provide graphic design services for branding, advertising, digital media, brochures and flyers, website graphics, templates, client alerts, invitations, PowerPoint presentations, edited photography and infographics in print and digital formats.

Essential Duties

  • Design and maintain firm announcements, brochures, client alerts, flyers, advertisements, invitations, PowerPoint presentations, website graphics and infographics.

  • Design and supervise production of firm promotional materials and gifts.

  • Coordinate, collaborate on and produce design requests from intake through completion.

  • Make basic copy edits, create headlines and proofread materials.

  • Perform basic HTML edits for web and digital communications.

  • Design, format and update presentation materials in Microsoft PowerPoint, including layouts, master slides, charts, infographics and attorney-facing content, ensuring all materials are polished, on-brand and client-ready.

  • Assist video editors with basic video updates.

  • Ensure brand integrity by adhering to style guide standards.

  • Support website projects through content and imagery additions and maintenance.

  • Retouch and size photography and images.

  • Create and maintain design templates for reusable creative pieces, including invitations, newsletters, flyers and PowerPoint presentations.

  • Obtain and manage photo rights for rights-managed imagery.

  • Work with external designers and printers on outsourced creative projects, supporting the creative process, reviewing and approving print proofs, and ensuring adherence to brand standards.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience

  • Experience following and referring to a recognized style guide.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat.

  • Ability to edit basic HTML.

  • Knowledge of basic video editing, motion graphics or short-form digital content preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

  • Experience working with external print services and managing print requests, including press checks when necessary.

  • Experience taking and editing photos for business use.

  • Experience supporting surveys and questionnaires using tools such as SurveyMonkey, including formatting, basic design customization and visual presentation of results.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in graphic design, interactive design and marketing.

  • Professional services marketing experience preferred.

  • Portfolio of print, digital and presentation design samples required.

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted creative tools and emerging creative technologies preferred.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to move around the office up to 15% of the time to make copies, fax, file, etc. Remains stationary at least 85% of the time. This position operates computers and other office productivity machines (e.g., fax machine, copier, printer, etc.) on a regular basis. Occasionally required to move documents or files weighing up to 15 lbs. This position requires constant communication and exchange of information with the Firm attorneys, clients and staff. This position must be able to inspect and observe information on a computer screen at least 80% of the time. Frequently identifies and distinguishes colors and correct focus.
