Position Overview

Goodwill HealthCare is seeking a dedicated and skilled full-time Physician Assistant to join our Primary Care surgical center team in Springfield, Illinois. Work Environment

The Physician Assistant position is located onsite at our Surgical Center, where you will engage with a diverse patient population seeking outpatient care. The work schedule consists of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with operating hours extending to 5:00 PM. You will be part of a collaborative team that includes five physicians and five nurse practitioners, creating a dynamic and supportive atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and review patients’ medical histories.

• Order and analyze diagnostic tests, including blood tests, X-rays, and other imaging to assess patient health.

• Diagnose health conditions and create individualized treatment plans for chronic and infectious diseases.

• Prescribe medications and monitor patient responses to treatment.

• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure adherence to healthcare protocols and regulations.

• Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures.

• Promote healthy lifestyle choices and disease prevention strategies among patients.

• Participate in ongoing professional development and research initiatives.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Physician Assistant at Goodwill HealthCare, you will serve a diverse patient population, ranging from acute care cases to ongoing management of chronic conditions. Your role will be critical in addressing both urgent healthcare needs and long-term wellness strategies. By engaging patients in their care processes, you will help them achieve better health outcomes and encourage adherence to treatment plans.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.

• Valid Physician Assistant license in the state of Illinois.

• PA-C certification is mandatory.

• DEA registration is essential for prescribing medication.

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a similar setting, including primary care, internal medicine, or urgent care.

• Strong knowledge of health care regulations and patient care practices.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster strong patient relationships.

• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in conducting research or participating in clinical trials is a plus.

• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, though not required.

• Prior involvement in community health initiatives or patient education programs would be highly regarded.

Compensation and Benefits
