GILSON
2nd Shift Packaging Lead
POSITION DESCRIPTION
OBJECTIVE
As a member of the Packaging department, the Packaging Lead is responsible for oversight of the 1st shift packaging production teams.
SUPERVISOR
Position reports to the Packaging Manager
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Verify all individual items are accounted for and ready for release to the packaging team
• Review the job ticket thoroughly to understand the job requirements, resolving any questions prior to releasing to the packaging team
• Explain specific job requirements to the packaging team and oversee production
• Set the quality expectations, monitor progress, and provide guidance if improvement is needed
• Identify and communicate estimated packaging time for each job, with a primary goal of staying below the estimate and never more than 115% above the estimate
• Establish proper Date Collection habits, including use of correct job number and having one team member logging into Planned Activity for scheduling and cost reporting purposes
• Properly record item quantities on the Ready to Ship card and in Pace
• Communicate with Shipping and Fulfillment when a job is complete
• Identify excessive non-productive times and report patterns to the Packaging Shift Lead
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Learn the Pace time approval process and assist when the Packaging Shift Lead is absence
• Follow the schedule established through PrintFlow, the Scheduler, Department Manager and Shift Lead
• Communicate job ticket issues with Department Manager and CSR
• Process carton and kit labels for proper identification
• Communicate shift progress using the Packaging Communication sheet and other available tools
• Identify individuals that show leadership initiative and effort, and prepare them to step into the role
• Cross train employees on the use of all packaging equipment
• Train to safely operate forklifts
REQUIREMENTS

• High school education or GED equivalent preferred
