Job Summary:

Personal Touch Food Service, Inc. is seeking a reliable and organized Assistant Food Service Manager to support the daily operations of multiple school cafeterias. The ideal candidate will assist the Food Service Manager in supervising staff, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring that nutritious meals are prepared and served in a clean, efficient, and student-friendly environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the planning, preparation, and service of meals

Help manage and train food service staff, assigning daily tasks as needed

Monitor kitchen operations to ensure compliance with USDA, state, and local health regulations

Support inventory management, including ordering and receiving deliveries

Assist with meal counts, production records, and temperature logs

Ensure cleanliness and sanitation in all food prep and service areas

Maintain a positive and productive kitchen culture

Work effectively in a busy, loud, and fast-paced school cafeteria environment

High School Diploma or GED required

Culinary training or food service management coursework preferred

Minimum 1-2 years of experience in food service, with some supervisory experience

ServSafe certification required (or must be obtained within 30 days of hire)

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.

Must pass background checks in accordance with NYS and school district policies


Education/Experience Requirements of the Asst. Manager:

Bachelor's or Associates degree in food service management, food & nutrition, business management, or in lieu of degree a minimum of 5 years experience in institutional/commercial food operation in a capacity with increasing food service supervisory positions/responsibilities.
