Capital Equipment Sales Engineer (Outside Sales) – Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia

As an outside Capital Equipment Sales Engineer at Delval Equipment, you’ll drive new business growth across the DC/NOVA territory by selling industrial and commercial boiler systems, hydronic equipment, and related controls to consulting engineers, contractors, and facility managers. This role is built for someone who can earn technical credibility fast, manage a complex sales cycle, and build the kind of long-term relationships that keep customers coming back. We are hiring for our Sykesville, MD location.

We operate out of five offices across Pennsylvania and Maryland, including our Sykesville, MD location.


What You’ll Do

  • Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities for steam boilers, hydronic systems, and commercial hot water equipment.

  • Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline through proactive prospecting, customer outreach, networking, marketing activities, and ongoing relationship development.

  • Build and maintain a strong working knowledge of Delval’s boiler and mechanical equipment product lines, including any newly added products.

  • Conduct technical sales presentations and provide technical support to consulting engineers, contractors, facility managers, and end users.

  • Perform site surveys and assessments to determine equipment requirements and develop accurate proposals.

  • Assist mechanical engineers with the design, selection, and implementation of steam and hydronic boiler systems.

  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams to review project specifications and drawingsand develop accurate, technically appropriate, and competitive system solutions and competitive proposals.

  • Provide technical guidance during installation and commissioning phases.

  • Remain engaged throughout the sales and project lifecycle, coordinating customer needs from equipment selection and order handoff through delivery, startup, and resolution of commercial or technical concerns.

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with engineers, contractors, and customers.

  • Represent Delval at trade shows, industry events, and professional associations.


What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 2 years of sales experience selling to commercial, industrial, or government accounts.

  • Familiarity with boiler or HVAC systems, or a strong mechanical inclination with the ability to learn quickly.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Self-motivated, independent, and comfortable working as part of a collaborative team.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the territory (up to 75%). Must reside within the assigned territory.
