Job description

Our client, an established and growing retail organization, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join their accounting team. Reporting to the Controller, you will support a broad range of accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, month-end activities, and general accounting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoices, payments, credits, and account adjustments.
  • Apply customer payments and maintain accurate customer and vendor account records within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Reconcile customer and vendor accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with bank and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.
  • Review transactions for accuracy and compliance with established accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Assist with accounts receivable follow-up and collection activities as required.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports, analysis, and other accounting schedules.
  • Assist with audit and year-end requirements by providing supporting documentation and information.
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounting records while ensuring confidentiality of financial information.
  • Provide general accounting and administrative support to the Controller and accounting team as required.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 1–2 years of accounting experience, with exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions.
  • Strong interest in pursuing the CPA designation and building a long-term career in accounting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Professional, dependable, and eager to learn and take on increasing responsibility.
  • Experience in a retail or high-volume transaction environment is considered an asset.
