Job description

We Are Looking for an Assistant Hotel Controller to Join Our Team! If you are a detail-oriented professional with a passion for numbers, leadership, and the hospitality industry, this job is perfect for you!

As an Assistant Hotel Controller, you will pay a key role in overseeing the financial health of our hotel, ensuring accuracy in reporting, compliance with regulations, and providing valuable insights to support operational and strategic decisions. This role involves managing financial statements, audits and cost control measures to maximize profitability while maintaining financial integrity. Key Focuses

Financial Management & Reporting

    • Oversee daily financial operations including:
    • Review of daily sales journals
    • Review of Guest Ledger, City Ledger and Advance Deposits
    • Review the Coding of invoices and submission for payment
    • Prepare bank reconciliations
    • Overseeing the timely billing of account receivable as well as collection efforts
    • Oversee inventory management and finalizing the month-end inventories
    • Responsible for approving credit applications for the Property
  • Prepare all journal entries, adhering to stipulated closing deadlines and schedules
  • Preparation of monthly P&L and balance sheet
  • Reconcile and monitor balance sheet accounts monthly
  • Assist with preparation of KPI reporting weekly such as cashflow
  • Assist in the hiring, training, development, and motivation of accounting team
  • Assist Corporate Controller with external auditors for annual audit/review engagements and any other reports or tasks as required
  • Budget & Cost Control
    • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with department heads
    • Assist with monthly forecast preparation to support nimble strategic decision-making
    • Monitor revenue and expenses, identifying opportunities for cost savings
    • Conduct variance analysis and provide recommendations for financial improvements

Experience/Passions/Education

  • Strong knowledge of LightSpeed, Micros and Sage300
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Ability to communicate effectively between all hotel departments
  • Ability to work effectively within the designated timeline
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience at a supervisory/managerial level
  • Minimum 2 year of accounting/finance in hospitality

As a Hotel Controller, you will spend the majority of the time working business hours Monday to Friday. However, you may also experience long days and/or weekends to meet periodic upturns in business demands or meet deadlines during budgeting and audits. This position is set in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong multitasking skills, the ability to meet strict deadlines, and proficiency in multiple technology applications.
