SXSW Film amp; TV Submissions Intern
Internship Purpose
The SXSW Film amp; TV Department is seeking an individual who is eager to learn more about the submission process at a Film and TV Festival. This internship will provide a broad, hands-on introduction to the fundamentals of internal operations, with a primary focus on Festival Submissions. It will require interfacing with those who submit to the SXSW Film amp; TV Festival, so excellent communication skills are necessary.
What you will learn:
  • The ins and outs of internal operations at a major Film amp; TV Festival
  • How to interact with SXSW Film amp; TV Festival applicants
  • How to troubleshoot various filmmaker and submission-related issues
  • How to use FileMaker Pro to become familiar with the submissions
  • How to use organizational software like AirTable and ClickUp
Duties amp; Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Field broken link requests from our Screeners and contact Filmmakers/Main Contacts to update link info in the FileMaker database. Relaying updated information to our Screeners and following up with the Filmmakers/Main Contacts.
  • Assist Film amp; TV Submissions amp; Programming Coordinator with tracking extension requests, sending coupons for extension submissions, and in external email correspondence.
  • Assist Senior Film amp; TV Festival Programming Manager with updating the Filmmaker materials.
  • Assist Film amp; TV Team with weekly screener assignments and communications.
  • Provide the Film amp; TV Team with internal operations support.
Qualifications amp; Skills:
To be eligible for an SXSW internship, you must be enrolled in an accredited university or college and live in Texas.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional work ethic with the ability to both multitask and work independently
  • They are eager to dive in and help when they can
  • Be able to take the initiative when needed
  • Have a good attitude, time management skills, and a sense of professionalism.

  • Possessing a working knowledge of FileMaker Pro, Gmail, Google Calendar/Docs, and Mac computers is a plus

Work Location, Schedule amp; Pay
This position is located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. A time commitment of 16 hours a week is required. This position may also receive preferential consideration for future SXSW hiring opportunities. This is a paid internship at $12.00/hr.
