Job description

Amentum is looking for an Engineering Resources Supervisor to join our team in McLean, VA! In this role, you will provide engineering expertise in support of a wide range of transportation and logistics related efforts. You will generally perform as a Task Leader on more complex project assignments under the guidance of a Team Leader. Work Schedule: M-F 8+ hrs per day Essential Responsibilities: * Perform a range of design development, analysis, or review tasks independently providing supervision of contributing engineers. * Responsible for complete designs, analyses, or design reviews independently or as the group leader. * Generate complete design specifications for the most complex projects. * Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications. * Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications. * Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations. * Prepare oral presentations and written reports to management, indicating solution or range of possible alternatives in rank of desirability and probability of success when there is no single solution. Engineering * Review appropriate engineering deliverables: Bases of design (BoD); analysis; calculations; drawings/diagrams; specifications * Manage and coordinate technical risk management activities: risk management strategy and planning; risk identification and assessment; risk mitigation; risk register production and maintenance * Engage with internal and external customers to support projects and emergent events utilizing engineering team Assets * Develop strategic pathway for asset management program improvement plan and implement goals and milestones for clear team direction and reporting to external customers * Work with department management and technicians to manage and revise PMs in Maximo to ensure workload balancing. * Ensure maintenance job plans align with government directives, task orders, manufacturer's recommendations, and department supervision expertise to ensure a well-defined maintenance program. * Maintains accurate and up-to-date record keeping, ensuring continuity in asset management operations. Keeps a well-defined tracking system for process, procedures and ensures data is available upon request by management and the customer. CAD * Analyze existing CAD processes and compare to customer needs and expectations. Through collaboration with customer, create new CAD processes and procedures to meet customer needs and define a process of how the group will move from current alignment. * Develop metrics for CAD backlog burn down to report to internal and external customers. * Pursue innovative ideas on CAD work beyond backlog burn down(P&IDs, critical section views, etc.) General * Identify and assist in the development revisions to current process/procedures and/or new processes and procedures to support future strategic business directions. * Provide leadership and management direction to make work assignments for review and approve the work of and perform personnel management functions for a group/team of engineers, and other personnel. * Hire, train, instruct and assign, directly or through subordinates, support personnel. * Organize and direct work, communicate performance standards, monitor activities, evaluate performance, and recommend the need for changes in status. Interpret company policy. * Ensure personnel are properly assigned to maximize technical quality and productivity of the group. * Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: Most positions involve typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communications, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Some positions involve work in environments (e.g., shipboard, labs, outside locations, etc.) where mechanical equipment, weapons, etc. are being installed, tested, analyzed/monitored, operated, and/or maintained. Equipment may be loud and noisy or have exposed moving components. Such positions may involve routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying and constant use of vision and mental alertness is required. Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): * Good oral and written communication skills * Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills, and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. * Position may require travel. Security Clearance Required: Must be a U.S. Citizen, possess and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance with polygraph. Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), preferably in an engineering discipline. Minimum Years of Experience: * A minimum of 5 years' engineering experience. * Experience must include specialized engineering involving major project management responsibilities. * Experience must also include all phases of engineering support including problem formulation/specification, system design, data collection, systems engineering and analysis, problem resolution, and documentation of results. This position is designated as a safety sensitive position.
