Job description

Hexcel is currently seeking a Quality Engineer for our Pottsville, PA, USA location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Support maintenance of comprehensive quality system.

  • Lead and/or participate in activities associated with root cause investigation for product and process defects.

  • Ensure best practice of new product introduction and process validation.

  • Coordinate lab testing for verification and validation of raw materials.

  • Assist in tool design as needed for process inspections.

  • Perform standard quality engineering tasks with include but not limited to non-conforming material disposition, non-conforming cost/trend analysis, corrective/preventive action, customer/internal MRB, process improvements (includes scrap reduction), automation of systems, inspection criteria, specification and contract review, and communication to and training of personnel.

  • While operating in the boundaries of Lean Principles, lead, guide, and direct lean implementation and training initiatives, including 6S, TPM, Kaizen, Flow Manufacturing, JIT, Kanban, and Rapid Improvement Workshops.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or Statistics, or related degree is required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in production or quality or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, supplier management, internal audits, and overall troubleshooting or problem-solving capabilities.

  • Strong leadership and able to work effectively with engineering, production personnel, and management.

  • Root cause investigation experience. Knowledge and/or use of six sigma methods and continuous improvement techniques preferred.

  • Good math and analytical skills including a working knowledge of statistical techniques (SPC, SQC, DOE).

  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to read drawings, interpret written procedures and instruction and ability to understand geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T).

  • Knowledge of AS9100/ISO and NADCAP preferred.

  • Knowledge of using 3D Modeling Software, CATIA is preferred.
