Elevator Installers are responsible for leading installations, troubleshooting, and require certifications and more experience. Both roles are essential in the elevator industry, but the Elevator Installer holds a more advanced position with greater responsibilities.

How much do elevator helpers make?

Elevator helpers typically earn around $15 to $20 per hour, depending on experience, location, and union agreements. They assist elevator installers with tasks such as carrying equipment and preparing work sites, often working under supervision and requiring safety training.

Why are elevator installers paid so much?

Elevator installers, including assistant elevator installers, are paid high wages due to the technical skill required, the safety risks involved, and the need for specialized training and certifications. Their work often involves complex machinery, working in confined or elevated spaces, and adhering to strict safety standards, which contribute to higher compensation.

How hard is it to be an elevator installer?

Becoming an elevator installer requires technical training, often through an apprenticeship that lasts several years, and the ability to work in confined, high places. The job involves physical labor, working with complex machinery, and adhering to safety standards, making it physically demanding and requiring attention to detail. Certification and knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems are also important for success in this field.

Is there a high demand for elevator technicians?

Elevator technician jobs are in high demand due to ongoing infrastructure upgrades and the need for maintenance of existing elevators. The industry requires skilled workers with technical training and certifications, and employment is expected to grow faster than average in the coming years.
