Job description

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County has an opening for a full-time 4-H Youth Development Educator working from the Rochester, NY office.
Serve as a member of the 4-H Youth Development team to assist with creating, implementing, and evaluating 4-H Youth Development educational programs and activities. Educator will be responsible for promoting program objectives and plans in all areas of 4-H Youth Development programming with emphasis on urban outreach, STEM, healthy lifestyles, life skills and workforce preparation, community service and leadership within the urban environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
โ€ข Master's degree or Equivalent Education or related experience. Bachelor's degree plus 4 yrs transferrable program/functional experience may substitute.
โ€ข Experience relevant to the role of the position.
โ€ข Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English.
โ€ข Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
โ€ข Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
โ€ข Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
โ€ข Knowledge of youth development and related programming

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program Development - 20%
โ€ข Assist Supervisor with development of 4-H Youth Development educational programs with emphasis on meeting the identified needs and various interests of urban participants and volunteers.
โ€ข Assist Supervisor with development of innovative educational programs that foster teen leadership, workforce readiness, civic engagement, and positive youth development.
โ€ข Assist Supervisor in research, identification, and selection and creation of 4-H Youth Development program materials to address identified needs.
โ€ข Assist Supervisor in making programmatic changes based on program evaluation outcomes and to meet changing local priorities.
โ€ข Assist Supervisor in structuring programs to meet the needs of various program participants.
Program Delivery - 50%
โ€ข Deliver high quality 4-H Youth Development educational programs and events that address local, regional, and statewide 4-H Youth Development programming priorities utilize a variety of educational methods which may include direct teaching, group experiences, media, newsletters, electronic technology, internet, and distance learning to deliver program.
โ€ข Deliver educational programming that emphasizes youth career exploration, workforce readiness, STEM, Agriculture, civic engagement, and service-learning language..
โ€ข Provide educational programs to students across all settings, including but not limited to traditional classroom settings at local public and private schools as well as in non-traditional settings, such as home-school groups and summer recreation programs.
โ€ข Serve as subject matter resource utilizing existing subject matter resources and materials.
โ€ข Provide educational program efforts via mass media including contributing articles to 4-H newsletter, utilizing emails, phone messages, and website postings.
โ€ข Interact with program participants representing CCE in a professional manner at all times.
โ€ข Represent CCE before the public, community leaders, government officials, Cornell, or other land grant Universities in a professional manner as part of program delivery.
Program Evaluation - 5%
โ€ข Assist in the creation of program evaluation framework.
โ€ข Interact with program participants, schools, association staff, program committees, county/community leaders, and other key stakeholders as identified to collect evaluation data.
โ€ข Assist in analyzing collected program evaluation data for reporting and program improvement purposes using standard, established policy, procedure, and methods.
โ€ข Communicate evaluation results and findings.
โ€ข Assist in recommending program changes to strengthen and improve programs.
Administrative Direction - 5%
โ€ข Assist with establishing program goals and priorities that align with Association and statewide Plan of Work.
โ€ข Assist with planning the delivery of established educational program goals.
โ€ข .Assist with identifying program, activity, community partnerships, and resource needs necessary to implement initiatives, projects and expand opportunities for youth leadership, career exploration, and family engagement. .
โ€ข May provide input to planning budget based on program feasibility needs and assist in identifying opportunities for 4-H fund development activities.
Administrative Management - 10%
โ€ข Assist in solving problems and resolving conflicts that arise in the operation of the 4-H Youth Development programming, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures and with guidance of supervisor as needed.
โ€ข Assist in monitoring program to ensure that educational content conforms to policies and objectives of the association and is research based.
โ€ข Assist with monitoring program financial status to ensure compliance with funding requirements, program budget, grant specifications, and adherence to association strategies/plan of work.
โ€ข Effectively manage program budget allocations.
โ€ข Assist with identifying ways to reduce costs and maximize existing resources within the Association.
โ€ข Assist in identifying and recommending program needs (i.e., program supplies and materials).
โ€ข Assist with ensuring volunteer direction and management procedures are followed according to established policies and procedures by providing guidance, leadership and resources for volunteers and volunteer leaders including recruitment, screening, orientation, training, evaluation, and management.
Administrative Coordination/Operation - 5%
โ€ข Apply existing subject matter knowledge to coordinate, compile, assemble, and organize program resources and program and teaching materials.
โ€ข Coordinate identified administrative tasks to support the delivery of established educational program goals, i.e., confirming events; gathering materials and resources for program delivery; and ensuring delivery to offsite program locations.
โ€ข Assist with recruitment and onboarding of youth participants into countywide programming.
โ€ข Maintain records of class participants, complete reports, and accurately collect and prepare paperwork as required.
โ€ข Effectively maintain and enhance existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.
โ€ข Coordinate the 4-H Youth Development volunteer enrollment and reporting process and work with the team to ensure all volunteer files, paperwork, and communication has been completed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
โ€ข Act as contact for Volunteers and Volunteer Leaders within the County.
โ€ข Assist in utilizing effective marketing strategies in the promotion of programming efforts to include, but not limited to: print media, news media, social media, and multi-media efforts.
โ€ข Maintaining communication with constituents, youth participants, families, caregivers, and community partners. through variety of methods such as contributing educational articles to program newsletters, e-mails, electronic technology, internet, social media, and website postings.
โ€ข Process, track, and maintain event and program registration and monies as per established policy.
โ€ข Collect and reconcile event and program receipts and monies. Prepare program expense reports.
โ€ข Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.
โ€ข Prepare and submit accurate expense reports, mileage reports, receipts/supporting documentation, and/or vouchers in a timely manner per established policy and procedures.
โ€ข Maintain confidentiality of all information and data collected, accessed, and/or maintained.
โ€ข Provide data and information to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories for funders, advisory committees, Board, and others as requested.
โ€ข Transport self and/or program materials/resources necessary for performing position responsibilities.

โ€ข In cooperation with the Supervisor, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.
