Job description

The Learning Content & LMS Specialist is responsible for producing engaging digital training content and administering Enterprise Electrical's Learning Management System (LMS). This position transforms source material provided by the Director of Training & Development and subject matter experts, including standard operating procedures, existing training programs, and vetted external content, into structured, AI-assisted training videos and digital learning content.

This position also administers the LMS, including course configuration, user enrollment and permissions, content publishing, and reporting, ensuring employees have reliable access to current and accurate training materials. The role combines digital content production, approximately 60%, with Learning Management System administration, approximately 40%.Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

Tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Take a topic, SOP, or subject matter expert briefing and produce short, engaging training videos using AI-assisted content tools such as Synthesia or similar avatar and screen-capture platforms.
  • Convert existing SOPs into clear, structured digital content, including English and Spanish content where needed.
  • Partner with subject matter experts across departments to gather, validate, and develop training content.
  • Build and maintain the training content catalog using source material from subject matter experts, leadership, external training programs, and vendors.
  • Advise on the technical requirements for integrating internal and external training content into company systems.
  • Package and publish content in standards-compliant formats such as SCORM and xAPI for delivery through the LMS.
  • Build assessments and knowledge checks to measure learner comprehension.
  • Administer the LMS, including course uploads, configuration, learning paths, user enrollments, permissions, groups, assignments, completion tracking, and reporting.
  • Troubleshoot content, access, and learner experience issues.
  • Maintain the LMS content catalog as the system of record for training materials.
  • Apply adult learning principles to structure content for engagement, retention, and usability.
  • Adapt existing course materials into digital and video-based learning content.
  • Stay current on AI-enabled content tools, SCORM/xAPI standards, e-learning packaging requirements, and content-authoring platforms.
  • Recommend improvements to training content production processes, tools, and technology.
  • Audit training content for technical accuracy, consistency, formatting, tone, visual standards, and brand-guide compliance.
  • Generate and distribute training completion and compliance reports for the Director of Training & Development and Safety/Compliance stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience creating video or multimedia training content, including the use of AI-assisted authoring tools such as Synthesia or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with SCORM, xAPI, or other e-learning packaging and interoperability standards.
  • Familiarity with JSON for reading and troubleshooting xAPI statements and content configuration files.
  • Familiarity with embedding external or third-party content into LMS course pages using iFrames.
  • Familiarity with content-authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of LMS administration from the content-creation and learner-experience perspectives, including packaging, uploading, configuring, publishing, and troubleshooting content.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to research external training programs, vendors, and content-authoring tools and provide informed recommendations.
  • Ability to work effectively with field and skilled-trades audiences as well as office-based employees.
  • Self-directed and comfortable developing processes and building a content library in a growing training environment.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates ownership and initiative consistent with Enterprise Electrical's "Plan it, Do it, Own it" and "Learn it, Know it, Teach it" values.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to quickly learn and adopt new tools, platforms, and software.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain content and system decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to incorporate feedback from subject matter experts and stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and content-structuring practices preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, or skilled-trades workforce environments preferred.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG, preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities at this time.
  • May provide functional guidance to subject matter experts during content development and review.
  • May mentor future Training & Development team members on content standards and tools as the department grows.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, Position Type, and Expected Work Time

Work Environment:

  • Primarily performed in a professional office and training environment in Houston.
  • Regular collaboration with subject matter experts across departments.
  • Occasional travel to branch locations and project sites, including San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, and mission-critical sites, to gather content and support training delivery.
  • Moderate to heavy use of computers, video equipment, and digital-learning technology.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.

Typical Schedule/Shift Details:

  • Monday through Friday, standard business hours, with flexibility to support content shoots, travel, training launches, or other business needs.

Overtime Expectations:

  • This is an exempt position and is not eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Hours may periodically exceed 40 per week to support content launches, travel, or business needs.
Required Education and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Media Production, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, relevant experience, and demonstrated portfolio work will be considered.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • No certification is required.
  • Relevant credentials, including ATD or LMS/platform certifications, are preferred but not required.

Experience Requirements:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience producing digital training or multimedia content, ideally using AI-assisted tools.
  • Experience supporting or administering a Learning Management System preferred.
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, industrial, or skilled-trades environments preferred.
