Controller | Residential Homebuilder | High-Growth Organization

Location: Alpharetta, GA.


Are you an experienced accounting leader looking for an opportunity to make a significant impact with a rapidly growing residential homebuilder?


Our client is an established and expanding homebuilder seeking a Controller to lead corporate accounting operations, strengthen financial processes, and help support the next phase of organizational growth. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative executive team where your expertise will directly influence business decisions and long-term success.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Job Cost Accounting.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Manage the month-end close process and ensure timely, accurate financial statements.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards and construction accounting best practices.
  • Manage construction loan draws and project funding.
  • Prepare and review AIA Pay Applications, lien waivers, retention accounting, and related construction documentation.
  • Partner with external auditors and CPA firms during annual audits and tax reporting.
  • Oversee cash management and banking relationships.
  • Prepare investor reporting, management fee calculations, acquisition fee reporting, and capital contribution/distribution notices.
  • Analyze financial performance and recommend process improvements that support continued growth.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop an accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For:

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience within residential homebuilding (required)
  • Experience with production homebuilders, Build-to-Rent, or residential development organizations
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Job Cost Accounting
    • Construction Accounting
    • Loan Draw Administration
    • ASC 606 Revenue Recognition
    • Investor Financial Reporting
    • Cost-Plus and GMP Billing
  • Experience with homebuilding ERP systems such as Brix, BuildPro, Hyphen, or similar platforms preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities
