This new division, based in Birmingham, AL, combines all Plant and Industrial Products in a single customer-focused package. MPI Corporate Assistant Controller

Position Summary
The Corporate Assistant Controller is an integral part of the accounting/finance team. Theย 
Corporate Assistant Controller will support the daily operation of the division's accountingย 
functions. The Corporate Assistant Controller will handle a wide variety of responsibilitiesย 
including handling issues relating to general operations, assisting with preparation of financialย 
statements and reports, monthly and year-end closings, account reconciliations, and all otherย 
accounting functions. As part of this role, the Corporate Assistant Controller will provideย 
supervision and oversight of payroll.

Position Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations
    • Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
    • Analyze variances and provide actionable insights
    • Ensure GAAP compliance
    • Support forecasting and budgeting
    • Support audits
  • Payroll Oversight & Compliance
    • Oversee multi-site payroll operations
    • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing

    • Review payroll journal entries and reconciliations

    • Maintain payroll internal controls

    • Ensure regulatory compliance

  • Operational Accounting

    • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts

    • Responsible for managing fixed assets

    • Maintain costs of direct ship products

    • Work with Plant Assistant Controllers to drive process improvements

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field from accredited college or university.
  • Minimum six (6) years accounting or business-related experience.
  • Proven knowledge of financial statements, journal entries, and GAAP.
  • Proven increase of responsibility in prior work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Documented history developing and maintaining positive working relationships in a multi-stakeholder culture.
  • Ability to deliver results while working in a team focused environment.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Must be ablet to travel by car/plane to manufacturing sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing accounting.
  • Microsoft D365 experience
