Job description

Assistant Dispatch Manager
Transdev U.S. is excited to announce an opening for Assistant Dispatch Manager at the 24/7 Operations Control Center (OCC) for WMATA's Metro Access contract in New Carrollton, MD. We are seeking friendly, customer service-oriented people who are dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and professional service to riders in the WMATA service area.
Transdev is proud to offer a competitive compensation package of minimum $70,000 - maximum $87,000.
Benefits include:
  • Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks
  • Sick days: 5 days
  • Paid holidays: As a 24/7 operation, you may be required to work on holidays in coordination with other managers. Transdev recognizes 12 days for this position; 8 standard and 4 floating.
  • Other standard benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short-term disability, voluntary long-term disability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Dispatch Manager to lead and manage a team of dispatchers and supervisors, including training, performance management, and coaching.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Dispatch department to meet performance expectations and adhere to service level agreements.
  • Monitor real-time operations to identify and resolve issues promptly, minimizing passenger inconvenience and maintaining service quality.
  • Provide timely and accurate information and assistance to passengers through various communication channels (phone, email, etc.).
  • Collaborate effectively with dispatchers, OCC managers, PAS Contractor, SDP, and WMATA staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Analyze performance metrics and identify opportunities for service and process improvements.
  • Be knowledgeable of industry best practices and technological advancements in dispatching and paratransit operations.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in a large Operations Control Center (OCC) environment, demonstrating strong leadership skills and operational expertise.
  • Proven track record of success in building and leading high-performing teams, fostering a positive and results-oriented work environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including strong listening skills and emotional intelligence with an ability to display confident and competent interactions in person, by phone, and through written correspondence.
  • Excellent interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation and commitment to exceeding passenger expectations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software applications.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred, or an additional 5 years of progressive leadership experience in an OCC environment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Work indoors in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities while at a desk or cubicle.
  • Sit, type, use a computer, phone, or radio for extended periods.
  • Occasionally push and pull objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Bend, kneel, or crouch to access files or equipment stored at ground level.
