Job description

Founded in 1920, Akerman is recognized as one of the nationโ€™s premier law firms, with more than 700 lawyers across the United States.ย 

Akerman is seeking a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant to support the Litigation Practice Group in our growing Wilmington, Delaware office.ย  This is a hybrid position with the requirement to work in the office at minimum three (3) days per week.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:ย 

  1. Provide proactive administrative support to our attorneys and the litigation team.
  2. Draft and edit correspondence, pleadings, discovery; prepare and format complex legal documents, including tables of contents, tables of authorities, and exhibits.
  3. File documents with courts and administrative agencies using electronic filing systems.
  4. Prepare for trials, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, and coordinating with court personnel.
  5. Maintain attorneysโ€™ calendars; submit expense reports;ย  submit time entries.
  6. Assist with reviewing client proformas/prebills (Paperless Billing).
  7. Prepare conflicts checks/drafting engagement letters/new matter openings.
  8. Other responsibilities may include heavy caseload file maintenance and other various duties as assigned.

Requirements and skills:ย ย 

  1. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in litigation legal supportย 
  2. E-Filing experience within state, district, and appellate courts is required
  3. Knowledge of legal terminology, regulations and court systems
  4. Working knowledge of Litigation applications such as Legal Tracker, CompuLaw, or CounselLink would be advantageous
  5. Advanced technology skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and PDF programs)
  6. Strong organizational and outstanding time-management skills
  7. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  8. Utilize good judgment
  9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
