Job description

Hours of Job
  • Casual employment working 12 hour shifts as needed based on departmental needs.
  • May float to work areas as needed, including Med Surg, Psychiatric Services, Transitional Care Unit, and the Emergency Department.

Duties and Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of basic patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient.
  • Collaborate and interact positively with the interdisciplinary team to provide quality patient care and achieve a high level of patient satisfaction.
  • Observe patients and report unusual conditions and/or reactions to an RN or an appropriate licensed team member.
  • Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
  • Answer call lights promptly and respond appropriately.
  • Straighten patients' rooms, change linens, and perform routine cleaning tasks in the patient care area.
  • Document appropriate graphic information and patient care on the patient record.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Flexibility to work other nursing units or shifts.
  • Must be capable of physically assisting patients, dealing with patient emergencies, and working as a clinical team member.
  • STNA preferred.

Education/Certifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have one of the following:
    • Completion of State Testing Certificate Program.
    • Nursing Assistant Certification.
    • Successful completion of at least one quarter or semester of clinical work in a health-related program.

Experience
  • Previous nursing assistant experience preferred.
