Generator Technician


  • Location: Woodland, CA - Home most nights, Supports planned maintenance and emergency response throughout California and Nevada (Sacramento south to Fresno, CA as far north as Oregon border, our client also has some sites near Reno, NV)


Job Type: Direct Hire


We are hiring on behalf of our client for a Generator Technician to support telecom backup power systems throughout Northern CA. This is a home-based field role with a company vehicle provided, offering the opportunity to work independently while maintaining critical power infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Generator Technicians or Diesel Generator Technicians looking to join a growing team with paid manufacturer training and long-term career growth.


What You'll Do

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel generators and related power equipment.
  • Respond to dispatched service calls throughout your assigned territory.
  • Complete maintenance documentation, site photos, and service records.
  • Fuel generators and assist with portable generator deployment when required.
  • Maintain a safe work environment while following company procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency outages during severe weather and other events.


What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 1–2 years of generator, diesel generator, or related field service experience.
  • Experience servicing generator manufacturers such as Generac, Kohler, Doosan, or similar is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required. CDL is preferred but not required. Must be able to meet the employer’s applicable background screening and drug and alcohol testing requirements, including random testing, in accordance with federal, state, and local law.
  • Comfortable working independently in the field.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, overnight travel, and emergency response when needed.
  • Basic computer skills for completing service documentation.


Travel

  • Daily travel within your assigned territory.
  • Overnight travel as needed.
  • Most weekends are spent at home unless supporting emergency response efforts.
  • During major weather events or utility emergencies, extended hours and travel may be required.
  • Technicians participate in a rotating callout list for emergency deployments after hours.



Compensation & Benefits

  • $35–$45/hour DOE
  • Overtime paid after 40 hours.
