Position Overview:

This position will be responsible for diagnosing problems, performing repairs, conducting routine maintenance on our generators, provide technical support to Service Technicians in the field, and may be deployed to the field for major field troubleshooting/repairs at customer sites if necessary. This position will require a strong understanding of electrical systems, diesel engines, and power generation in order to perform their job effectively. This involves an extensive knowledge of how to safely operate equipment while maintaining proper safety protocols. Responsible for maintaining and completing all required documentation of work performed.

Principle Duties:

  • Install, maintain, and repair generators and other mechanical equipment according to company standards, to include meeting local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on generators, including but not limited to oil changes, filter changes, and belt replacements. This is for preventative maintenance that is required between customer rentals and annual preventative maintenance.
  • Perform repairs or replace defective parts and work with leadership if repairs need to be outsourced to a third-party generator repair facility.
  • Respond to service calls in a timely manner and troubleshoot problems over the phone or in person as required. Provide support to Service Technicians who are deployed to a customer site to repair/troubleshoot generator.
  • Assist or may lead large field installations and aid technicians that are deployed to do temporary generator installations. This may include travel to job sites.
  • Serve as Primary Technician for all large KVA generators and associated equipment stored at this location.
  • Will be a primary contact for the region as our rental fleet becomes remotely monitored.
  • Provide mentoring and training for Service Technicians that are based in Mobile Air/Resolute Branches and Depots.
  • Assist with other equipment installation and service if generator specific work is not available/assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or technical degree in diesel mechanics, power generation, or a related field preferred.
  • 5-yearsโ€™ experience in generator maintenance, installation, and repair
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines
  • Strong understand of electricity, electrical circuits, and electrical safety
  • Must be a self-starter and have ability to work with minimal supervision
  • There is some required travel to support installation, troubleshooting, and potential support/training at other MAPR locations
  • Travel is expected and will include overnight stays.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds using safe work practices.
  • Valid Driverโ€™s license with a driving record that meets Company standards.
  • Demonstrated PC skills including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
