Job description

Join one of the world's leading luxury jewelry houses. We are a globally recognized New York-based fine jewelry company seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional to join our Stones & Acquisitions team. Working directly alongside our Vice President of Stones & Acquisitions, you will play an integral role in the sourcing, acquisition, organization, and management of exceptional diamonds and colored gemstones. This position offers a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience across every stage of the sourcing process—from evaluating and acquiring stones to inventory management, logistics, and daily operations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the business and operational sides of the jewelry industry and wants to build a long-term career working with some of the world's finest diamonds and gemstones. This is a full-time, in-person position based in New York City. Previous experience working with diamonds and colored gemstones is required.

Primary Responsibilities

Diamond & Gemstone Sourcing

  • Assist in sourcing diamonds and colored gemstones from domestic and international suppliers.
  • Work closely with the Vice President to identify stones that meet specific client and inventory requirements.
  • Coordinate the acquisition process for diamonds, colored gemstones, and finished jewelry.
  • Research availability, pricing, and market trends within the diamond and gemstone industry.
  • Communicate with vendors, manufacturers, laboratories, and dealers regarding inventory and sourcing opportunities.
  • Support the evaluation, organization, and tracking of incoming acquisitions.

Inventory & Operations

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for diamonds, colored gemstones, and finished jewelry.
  • Manage inventory tracking, product organization, and operational documentation.
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments of diamonds, gemstones, finished jewelry, and client-owned pieces.
  • Prepare spreadsheets, reports, and pricing information related to acquisitions and inventory.
  • Ensure the accuracy of internal databases and inventory systems.

Executive & Department Support

  • Support the Vice President in the day-to-day operations of the Stones & Acquisitions department.
  • Coordinate meetings, appointments, and occasional travel arrangements.
  • Assist with special projects and provide occasional support to the Founder.
  • Help ensure the department operates efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in the diamond, gemstone, or fine jewelry industry.
  • Strong understanding of diamond grading and colored gemstone terminology.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism.
  • High level of discretion when handling confidential information.

What We're Looking For

  • Passion for diamonds, colored gemstones, and the luxury jewelry industry.
  • Naturally curious with a desire to learn the sourcing and acquisition side of the business.
  • Highly organized and process-oriented.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Calm under pressure and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to contribute wherever needed.
  • Commitment to accuracy, excellence, and continuous learning.
