Ackerman Jewelers Inc in Tampa, FL is looking for a passionate and skilled Gemologist to join our team. Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, grade, and authenticate diamonds, gemstones, and fine jewelry using industry-standard tools and techniques
- Provide expert gemological assessments and appraisals for customers and estate pieces
- Assist customers in selecting jewelry, offering knowledgeable guidance on gemstone quality, cut, color, and clarity
- Maintain accurate records of gem evaluations, appraisals, and inventory documentation
- Source and evaluate new gemstone and jewelry inventory in collaboration with buyers
- Stay current with gemological trends, market values, and industry certifications
- Support sales staff with product knowledge training and gemstone education
Requirements:
- Graduate Gemologist (GG) diploma from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or equivalent certification preferred
- Proven experience in gemstone grading, diamond grading, and jewelry appraisal
- Proficiency with gemological instruments including loupe, microscope, and refractometer
- Strong knowledge of precious and semi-precious gemstones, metals, and fine jewelry
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
