Job description

STV is seeking a CEI, Construction Engineering Assistant Office Engineer for our Transportation department based in our Hartford, CT office.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and regulatory requirements through review and verification of contractor submissions.
  • Assist with managing and maintain project documentation, including RFIs/RFCs, submittals, daily reports, and change orders.
  • Coordinate and review material sampling and testing to ensure compliance with project specifications and CTDOT standards, track material certifications and test results.
  • Assist in preparing change orders, claims, material testing reports, and monthly pay estimates.
  • Assist in coordinating project schedules, tracking progress, and maintaining accurate records of construction activities.
  • Assist in preparing meeting agendas and take accurate meeting minutes to issue a report of meeting to all parties after meetings
  • Support field inspection teams by providing technical guidance, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with agency representatives, engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders to facilitate project success.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in construction engineering and inspection (CE&I); OR NICET Level 2 with a minimum of 4 years of experience in CE&I
  • Familiarity with CE&I processes, contract administration, and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work on-site as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior CTDOT CE&I experience
  • Professional Engineer License
  • OSHA 10 Hour Construction Training
  • Working knowledge of Compass and AASHTOWare project (AWP)

Compensation Range:
$75,656.68 - $86,464.77
