Job description

The Curriculum Specialist provides instructional leadership to support high-quality teaching and learning across Excelsior Prep Charter Schools. This position works closely with school leaders and teachers to develop, align, implement, and monitor curriculum and assessments that support student achievement. The Curriculum Specialist helps ensure that instructional programs meet charter school goals, state standards, and the academic needs of diverse learners in a K-8 environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead curriculum planning, review, and alignment across grade levels and subject areas.

• Collaborate with school leadership and classroom teachers to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.

• Support the development of scope and sequence documents, pacing guides, lesson planning tools, and common assessments.

• Analyze student performance data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for academic growth.

• Recommend instructional strategies, intervention supports, and enrichment opportunities based on data and observed needs.

• Provide coaching, modeling, and professional development to teachers on curriculum implementation, differentiation, assessment, and instructional best practices.

• Monitor fidelity of curriculum implementation through classroom observations, planning reviews, and feedback sessions.

• Research and recommend instructional materials, digital resources, and supplemental programs that support school goals.

• Assist with academic program planning for multilingual learners, students with varying learning needs, and students requiring targeted intervention.

• Work with administrators to support school improvement initiatives, compliance expectations, and academic reporting requirements.

• Promote a positive school culture focused on achievement, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Perform other duties assigned by school leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.

• Valid Florida educator certification or eligibility to obtain certification preferred.

• Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience required.

• Experience with curriculum design, instructional coaching, assessment development, or academic leadership preferred.

• Knowledge of state standards, data-driven instruction, differentiated instruction, and effective classroom practices.

• Strong communication, organization, presentation, and collaboration skills.

• Ability to build trust with teachers and lead improvement efforts in a supportive, solutions-focused manner.

• Proficiency with educational technology, student data systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
