JOB SUMMARY

The Credit Analyst prepares comprehensive credit presentations for new, renewed, modified, and existing credit relationships. They assign appropriate risk ratings, identify material credit strengths and weaknesses, and recommend loan structures, terms, covenants, and risk-mitigation strategies. The Credit Analyst works closely with lenders, Credit Administration, and other internal partners to obtain necessary information, resolve underwriting questions, and ensure credit requests are evaluated in accordance with the Bank's credit policies, risk appetite, and applicable regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The duties listed below may not include all responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Gathers, reviews, and validates financial and nonfinancial information from lenders, borrowers, internal systems, credit bureaus, and other relevant sources to support the underwriting process.

  • Spreads and analyzes business and personal financial statements, tax returns, borrowing bases, accounts receivable and payable agings, debt schedules, and other financial information using Bank-approved software and methodologies.

  • Evaluates historical and projected financial performance, including revenue trends, profitability, cash flow, liquidity, leverage, working capital, and debt-service capacity.

  • Analyzes borrower and guarantor repayment capacity, including global cash flow and contingent liabilities, as applicable.

  • Evaluates collateral support, including collateral values, advance rates, lien positions, guarantor support, and the adequacy of the proposed loan structure.

  • Reviews ownership, management experience, industry conditions, market trends, and other qualitative factors that may affect the borrower's financial performance and credit risk.

  • Identifies material credit strengths, weaknesses, policy exceptions, and other risks associated with proposed and existing credit relationships.

  • Prepares comprehensive credit presentations for new, renewed, modified, and existing credit relationships, providing a clear and objective assessment of the borrower, repayment sources, collateral support, loan structure, and overall credit risk.

  • Recommends appropriate loan structures, terms, conditions, covenants, reporting requirements, risk-mitigation measures, and risk ratings based on the results of the credit analysis.

  • Works closely with lenders, lending assistants, Credit Administration, and other internal partners to obtain necessary information, resolve underwriting questions, and support the timely completion of credit requests.

  • Responds to questions and requested revisions from credit decision makers and incorporates approved changes into final credit presentations and underwriting analyses.

  • Performs annual reviews and other periodic credit assessments to evaluate financial performance, covenant compliance, borrowing-base compliance, collateral trends, and changes in the borrower's overall risk profile.

  • Monitors assigned credit relationships for compliance with approved loan terms, Bank policies and procedures, and applicable banking laws and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintains complete, accurate, and well-supported underwriting files and ensures that financial analysis, conclusions, and recommendations are clearly documented.

  • Develops and maintains knowledge of commercial lending practices, financial analysis, applicable banking regulations, economic conditions, industry trends, and the Bank's credit policies and risk appetite.

  • Maintains the confidentiality of customer and Bank information and performs all responsibilities in accordance with the Bank's ethical and professional standards.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities and organizational limitations may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field required. Accounting or Finance degree strongly preferred.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in commercial credit analysis, commercial loan underwriting, financial analysis, commercial lending, public accounting, or a related field required.

  • Working knowledge of commercial credit analysis, loan underwriting, credit risk management, and applicable banking regulations and policies, with the ability to analyze business and personal financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, borrowing bases, debt schedules, collateral support, and other relevant financial information.

  • Ability to evaluate repayment capacity, liquidity, leverage, profitability, financial trends, and other quantitative and qualitative risk factors; identify material credit weaknesses and policy exceptions; and develop appropriate credit recommendations and risk-mitigation strategies.

  • Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Must be self-motivated with strong initiative, high level of accountability, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to always maintain a high degree of ethical standards and complete confidentiality.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in underwriting commercial and industrial and commercial real estate credit relationships.

  • Experience with Moody's CreditLens, Bukers Tax Analysis, or similar platforms.

  • Experience with financial spreading and credit underwriting software.

  • Bilingual- English/Spanish
