Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

To prepare and portion foods for the resort's food and beverage outlets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Possess a solid background in making soups, stocks,grillingandroastswith the knowledge of varied methods and techniques toprepare food.
  • Handle knives excellently andoperateall kitchen equipment in asafe,efficientand effective manner.
  • Beable to assume control of the kitchen in the absence of a SousChef.
  • Follow the kitchen chain of command;i.e.Chefs, Cook I, Cook II,Cook III.
  • Take an active role in the training of new cooks.
  • Assist the Chef as necessary inmaintainingthe cleanliness operations of the Kitchen.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred Degree: Associate Degree in culinary field or fifth year college or university program certificate
  • Certificate(s) or License(s): Valid Driver's License
  • Years of experience: two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Language Skills:Abilityto read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operatingand maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability towriteroutine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees oforganization.
  • Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,proportionspercentages, area, circumference, and volume.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability:Abilityto solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where onlylimitedstandardizationexists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructionsfurnishedin written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Required to work with others wellin a close environment with alearning attitudepossessingspeed and efficiency on the line.
