Rate of Pay: $15.00-$25.00/hr depending on experience

Position Summary

The Lead Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food in accordance with standardized recipes, production guidelines, and food safety standards. This role ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality meals while maintaining compliance with food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures. The Lead Cook may provide direction to kitchen staff, assign tasks, and support daily kitchen operations. Responsibilities may vary based on location, client requirements, and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

·        Prepare and cook food according to established recipes and production schedules.

·        Follow all food safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.

·        Safely operate kitchen equipment, including grills, fryers, ovens, broilers, and other food preparation tools.

·        Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

·        Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control standards.

·        Support daily kitchen operations and assist with inventory management as required.

·        Provide guidance, training, and task delegation to team members when applicable.

·        Adhere to all workplace health and safety requirements, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.

Requirements

·        Previous experience as a Cook or in a similar food service role.

·        Food Safety Certification.

·        Proven knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food safety regulations, including proper handling, sanitation, and storage practices.

·        Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

·        Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

·        Basic math and counting skills.

Preferred:

·        Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a food service environment.

·        Physical Requirements

·        Ability to lift, bend, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.

·        Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

·        Ability to wear required uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE).

·        Background Screening Requirements

·        Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check in accordance with applicable local and national legislation.

·       A current Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) is required for this position.
