THE POSITION 

The Second Line Cook is responsible for assisting with day to day operations of kitchen suites team in an environment that mixes banquet and line cooking together including bulk preparation and fast pate firing. The role requires a strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards and protocols as this role will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Daily cooking and preparation of food using multiple cooking techniques;
  • Prepare hot plates, cold plates, sauces;
  • Perform a variety of butchering tasks such as trimming roasts, cutting ribs, chicken, etc.;
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and use of food inventories;
  • Maintain a high standard of safety and sanitation as governed by standards and protocols;
  • Communicate with kitchen staff, cooks, Suites Chefs, and the executive chef;
  • Follow instructions as directed by supervisors, Suites chef, and the executive chef;
  • Work with other departments and needed
  • Actively participate in safety programs and follow polices;
  • Assist in all areas of the kitchen as required;
  • Active participation in the Safety Program and follow all safety rules.
  • Other duties as required.

    THE INDIVIDUAL 

    The ideal individual will have the following background: 

    • 3+ years restaurant or hotel cook experience;
    • Formal culinary training is considered an asset;
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
    • Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly;
    • Positive attitude and a strong attention to detail;
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and prioritize

    Certifications

    • High school diploma is considered an asset.
