Job description

Spurwink is looking for a hard-working Assistant Controller. This position contributes to the mission of Spurwink by ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of financial information. The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing the accounting and budgeting processes and the related internal control environment.
DUTIES:
  • Financial management and reporting.
  • Payroll oversight.
  • Accounts payable oversight.
  • Internal controls and compliance.
  • Leadership and process improvement.
  • Maintain proficiency in agency software that supports accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting. Engages in professional development to ensure understanding and implementation requirements of current federal and state rules and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree in accounting or other appropriate technical undergraduate degree. A certified public accountant (CPA) or certified management accountant (CMA) preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a field related to the administration of finances is required. Experience in supervision of staff is required.
