Title: Assistant Controller
Reports To: V.P. of Finance
Classification: Exempt

Compensation: $140,000 - 160,000
***The position is based fully on-site at our Melville office, Monday-Friday.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Controller will play a vital role in managing the financial operations of our company. Working closely with the Controller and finance team, he/she will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, support budgeting and forecasting processes, and maintain strong internal controls. The position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles and regulations in the healthcare industry. Advanced Excel skills are required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the annual budget and periodic forecasting. Collaborate with other departments to gather data, analyze variances, and provide financial insights for decision-making.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets, mitigate financial risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Analyze financial data, perform variance analysis, and prepare financial reports to highlight key performance indicators. Provide insights and recommendations to management based on the analysis.
  • Participate in audits, both internal and external, and coordinate responses to audit inquiries. Ensure compliance with relevant financial reporting standards, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Manage Billings department; preserve the timeliness and accuracy guidelines in which the departments should be operating.
  • Evaluate and enhance financial systems and processes to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance accuracy in financial reporting.

Qualifications/Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the healthcare industry or a similar field.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience with corporate/payroll tax handling.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems. Advanced Excel skills are required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
