Independent Contractor opportunity, 16-24 hours a week (variable)

Location & Hours of Operation: Ability to commute to 2-2624 Dunwin Drive, Mississauga, ON. We're looking for someone with the flexibility to work variable shifts during our operating hours: Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 7:00pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Affirming Care Pharmacy is located on the unceded and traditional territories of the peoples of the Treaty and Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, The Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations. We are looking for a highly motivated and patient-focused Pharmacist to join our incredible Affirming Care Pharmacy team in Mississauga. As a Pharmacist, you will provide support for our day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth workflow continuity and delivering inclusive, affirming care to every patient. This is a unique opportunity to join an energetic and growing team that's deeply committed to making a difference.

In this role, you'll make an impact by:

Providing Patient Care & Support

  • Leveraging your clinical expertise within a multidisciplinary environment to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care
  • Performing patient medication counseling duties (primarily PrEP, STI and HIV care) and providing exceptional customer service both over the phone and in-person
  • Coordinating with patients to set up shipping and delivery preferences
  • Managing patients' refill cycles to make sure they do not run out of their medication
  • Assisting patients in navigating insurance challenges 
  • Providing in-person patient care, including administering injections in accordance with scope of practice and regulatory requirements

Supporting Pharmacy Operations & Oversight

  • Supervising the work of Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants, ensuring the accuracy of all prescriptions dispensed and shipped as per College of Pharmacy regulations 
  • Overseeing inventory management; performing inventory audits, managing the purchasing of packaging and pharmacy supplies and coordinating medication orders with wholesalers 
  • Actively assisting Pharmacy Technicians with operational tasks to ensure workflow efficiency as pharmacist workload permits

Maintaining Compliance & Driving Collaboration

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable Federal and Provincial laws, rules and regulations
  • Ensuring all requirements for the documentation and control of substances under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Regulations are satisfied 
  • Collaborating with key team members to formulate business insights and drive operational and patient care improvements 

We need someone who has:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Science or Pharm-D
  • An active Pharmacist license and is in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, with authorization to administer injections
  • A strong understanding of pharmacy business operations and economics 
  • Proficiency in all aspects of pharmacy software, from data entry and billing to report generation and troubleshooting
  • A positive attitude, a strong sense of urgency and a team player mentality
  • Experience navigating operational, technological and strategic change 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills 
  • The ability to set priorities and manage time effectively, and is detail-oriented
  • Active listening and strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Flexibility to work different shifts including evenings and weekends
It would also be great if you have:
  • Experience with Kroll 
Compensation:
  • $55 - $65 CAD per hour, as an independent contractor
  • Please note that as an independent contractor, you would not be eligible for the benefits available to permanent positions
