Under general direction, lead and support the ITS performing skilled work in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of traffic signals and other Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices.


DUTIES:

  • Perform the maintenance function for ITS devices and related equipment, and perform basic troubleshooting of both wiring problems in cabinets as well as underground.
  • Understand and program video detection systems; install knockdown temporary/permanent replacement poles, signal heads, street lighting and/or combination of these items.
  • Troubleshoot and repair wiring problems on the highway, up to and including the replacement of conductors in conduit; test and splice loop detectors.
  • Assist in the training of new technicians; perform all job functions of Maintenance Technician and Maintenance Technician Trainee.
  • Perform all job functions of Utility Technician and any other assignments as requested.
  • Scheduling of subcontractors for subcontracted work, including electrical and Remote Weather Instrumentation System (RWIS) contractors, and/or conduit installation contractors.
  • Serves as a proactive customer service & quality ambassador of The Econolite Group, Inc. by representing the organization in a positive, professional manner to support The Brand Promise.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable DMV record.
  • One (1) to Five (5) years of related experience in video systems, cabling, or similar electronic/ITS field work preferred.
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, practices, and methods used in installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic signals, ITS devices and associated equipment preferred; Video Detection configuration, troubleshooting and repair experience highly desired.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of traffic control guidelines, both state and local, in addition to pertinent federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations regarding electronics
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
  • Ability to interpret design schematics, site plans, maps, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to wire and connect cables necessary for operation of signalized intersections preferred..


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to stand, walk, squat, and bend at the waist for extended periods of time
  • Safety sensitive position—will be required to work at busy traffic intersections
  • Required to drive up to five hours a day; ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • May work in various, changing outdoor weather conditions, i.e. rain, heat, etc.
