Position: Junior High Assistant Choir Director
Job Summary: The Assistant Choir Director Supports the development, coordination, and execution of the junior high choral program. This role assists in fostering students' musical growth, performance skills, and appreciation for vocal music while contributing to a positive, disciplined, and inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will be energetic, collaborative, and committed to student growth and performance.
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with middle or junior high school students.
  • Knowledge of vocal pedagogy and choral techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to support a structured and engaging classroom environment.
  • Piano accompaniment skills preferred but not required.

Reports to: Choir Director/Building Principal
Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Choir Director in planning and conducting daily rehearsals.
  • Support vocal instruction, including technique, pitch, tone, and harmony.
  • Help prepare students for concerts, competitions, and school/community performances.
  • Accompany rehearsals or performances if qualified (piano skills preferred).
  • Reinforce classroom management and promote positive student behavior.
  • Assist with organizing music, materials, uniforms, and equipment.
  • Support audition processes and student placement as needed.
  • Collaborate with school staff to support student academic and extracurricular success.
  • Attend performances, events, and occasional after-school rehearsals.
  • Help communicate program updates to students, parents, and administration.

4. The recommendation for employment will be presented by the Superintendent to the Board of Education for consideration and action.
5. Those Candidates who were interviewed will be notified of the Board's decision.
