Job description

The Academy of the Holy Names is an independent, Catholic, coeducational elementary school and a college preparatory high school for young women, sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.

Summary:
The Academy of the Holy Names seeks a Certified Lifeguard for Summer on Bayshore to supervise swimming activities, the pool area, as well as indoor and outdoor play, for campers ages 3 to 14. Lifeguards are to be responsible, quick-thinking, and capable of making sound decisions while ensuring a safe environment.
Reports to: Director of Auxiliary Programs and Assistant Director of Camp Operations
Qualifications:
  • Current Lifeguard Certification or ability to renew before April 1st.
  • Must be 17 years or older

Classification: Seasonal, hourly position
Responsibilities:
  • Lifeguard is responsible for the safety and supervision of each camper, from age three (3) to fourteen (14) years of age in and around the pool or supervised area.
  • Lifeguard is responsible to assist in the camperโ€™s transitions including but not limited to: walking campers back after swimming, directing to the next camp activity and/or to lunch if needed.
  • Lifeguard assists in the management of counselors, campers, coaches, and volunteers at and around the pool to provide a safe pool environment
  • Lifeguards must be present and an active supervisor when campers are using the pool.
  • Lifeguard will assist with inside games in the event pool time is canceled due to weather.
  • Lifeguards are required to have current Safe Environment Training (SET) and will participate in a training session prior to the first day of Summer Camp.
  • Lifeguards acknowledge that positions may be changed/altered, due to the needs of Summer on Bayshore and weather.
  • In the event of an unforeseeable circumstance where the Lifeguard will be unable to attend the week of a camp, it is their responsibility to notify the Director of Auxiliary Programs and the Summer Camp Director directly by phone and email.
