Job description

Job Title: Area Manager

Department: Salon Operations

Reports to: Regional Manager

Responsibilities:
  • Be responsible for the operations for 24 salon locations within your assigned area
  • Each Area Manager will be assigned a primary salon location within their area in which they will work a majority of their schedule.
  • Supervise and support all Salon Managers within the assigned area.
  • Ensure all locations open and close at designated times.
  • Arrive at your scheduled salon no later than 9:55 AM for opening shifts and on time for any shifts starting after 10:00 AM.
  • Create and manage work schedules for assigned salons that do not have a Salon Manager.
  • Step in to support coverage when needed and help maintain smooth daily operations
  • Review payroll hours for all salons within your designated area throughout the week to ensure accuracy and compliance to all scheduling requirements and avoid excess payroll hours and overtime.
  • Conduct an inventory audit and Quality Scorecard during every scheduled shift at both primary and secondary stores.
  • Be prepared to ensure coverage for any unattended shifts at both primary and secondary stores.
  • Partner with salon managers on training, coaching, and team development.
  • Assist with hiring and onboarding of all salon staff within designated area
  • Ensure adherence of employees to all Zoom Tan policies and procedures in your area.
  • Scheduling expectations:
  • Maintain a 5day work week unless on approved PTO or otherwise approved
  • Scheduled a minimum of 35 hours every week.
  • Area Managers are expected to be actively scheduled to work a minimum of 45 shifts per week at their primary salon.
  • When scheduled for 4 days at the primary salon, the 5th day should be used as a travel day to visit secondary locations and overlap with associates and managers.
  • All assigned salons outside of the Area Managers primary location must be visited in person up to once per week for up to 2 hours.
  • When working at secondary locations, During the 2 hours of overlap, Area Managers are expected to schedule their time to support operational needs across their assigned locations, including but not limited to: oPartnering with Salon Managers on coaching and training team members
  • Assisting with inventory management and redistribution of products between salons as needed during scheduled shifts at primary salon or scheduled overlap visits at secondary stores. oSupporting hiring, onboarding, and performance development
  • Conducting salon visits, operational audits, and team check-ins
  • Addressing operational issues
  • Overlap Expectations:
  • Standard overlap is not permitted outside of the guidelines below.
  • Area Managers should be clocked in as nonrevenue during 2 hour overlaps at secondary store visits.
  • Every week, Area Managers are approved for up to 2 hours of overlap per secondary store that they oversee. oExample: An Area Manager overseeing 1 primary store and 2 secondary stores is approved for up to 4 hours total of overlap per week (up to 2 hours overlap per secondary store).
  • Overlap must be: oPlanned and scheduled in advance whenever possible
  • Purpose driven with clear objectives
  • Strategically divided to ensure regular interaction with all salon managers and associates within their area.
  • Mileage Policy:
  • You will be reimbursed for mileage when company related business exceeds 50 total miles driven in one day in accordance with the current IRS mileage reimbursement rate.
